Singing to seduce – The illusion of musical films in Nazi Germany
“Singing to seduce – The illusion of musical films in Nazi Germany” deals with the musical and lyrical aspects of Nazi-cinema and investigates further propaganda elements. Based on the musical films “Vienna Blood” (1942) and “Operetta” (1940) by Willi Forst, “We Make Music” (1942) by Helmut Käutner and “The Beggar Student” (1936) by Georg Jacoby, this dissertation analyses the manipulative content of these films and compares them with other musical films of the Third Reich.
